Ian Boys anuncia novos mapas para IL-2!

Post by 01_Urubu »

Norte da Alemanha, Noruega e Burma serão os próximos mapas a serem adicionados! Não me pergunte "quando" :D

Hello all,

I would like to say a few words about the mapping situation in the EuroMapping group.

1) We have just finished a North-west Europe online map with no names on it that can be used for any area but is intended as northern Germany in 1945. We are hopeful that it will be included in the 4.02 patch. There are some new types of airbases, a dense rail network, a couple of hilltop castles, a POW camp, fuel dumps etc, railway marshalling yards, a canal etc.

2) Next up is a Norway coastal map for use with the Mosquito (we hope!), Beaufighter, RAF Mustangs, JG5 190's etc. The islets and fjords of the coast north of Bergen should make for dramatic scenery and the adventures of the Banff strike wing (see "A Separate Little War") should make for dramatic missions. I am a little concerned that the missions might be a bit "samey" but we will see. Rafiger (http://www.rafiger.de) is kindly doing the preparatory work on this map.

3) At the same time I would like to start work on a Burma map and am looking for somebody to help who has Photoshop. Basically you will be doing the water and altitude maps. If you would like to join the mapping team and contribute to the sim please PM me here at Ubi or at SimHQ.

OPEN COMPETITION FOR SKINNERS:

For the Burma map we will be looking for new ground textures. These need to be 24 bit TGA's sized 512x512 pixels. We are particularly looking for the following:

- Flat land rice fields - square edges to the fields. The fields need to be tiled, i.e. you can lay the textures together vertically and horizontally and they should fit so that it isn't clear where the seams of the tiles are. If you haven't seen ricefields, please look in Google images. The main thing to note is that in the same area there are green, yellow and brown (empty) fields, as well as some filled with water. See this: http://www.thailand.com/travel/pic/rice_field2.jpg

- Hillside rice fields - Irregular edges as in hill terracing. The lines should run roughly 10 degress to 190 degrees, as that will be the line of the mountains. See: http://www.niel-maastricht.nl/album...other_green.jpg and http://artinicottage.com/aboutbali/image/rice_field.jpg

However we are also looking for other textures - anything you can think of.

In addition, anyone with nice Burma skins for the Spit5, Spit8, Thunderbolt and Hurricane IIC, please let us have them for screenshots

4) 2 other maps are in their early stages but have at least 6 months to go. They are both set in Europe and we will show more as we get closer to completion.

Thanks for reading,

Reminder: if you would like to join the mapping team and help with the prep work for Burma, please PM me.
