"My diesel Rover (aged 7 years with 130,000 miles on the clock) blew up today. I think that the head gasket blew.
I was driving along when I noticed a cloud of smoke behind me in the rear view mirror (similar to IL2).
The revs went off the scale (similar to IL2).
I cut the ignition but the engine continued revving (similar to IL2).
I sought a place to park that was safe (similar to IL2).
I parked up but I was surrounded by black smoke and the engine was about to burst. I undid my harness and ran. (similar to IL2).
I watched from about 25 yards away as the engine continued in self destruct mode but could not see the vehicle for a mushroom cloud of black smoke. (similar to IL2).
But I did not lie on the ground with my hand over my head. (not similar to IL2).
Eventually, the engine died and north London could breath more easily.
A couple of minutes later the Fire Brigade arrived called by a nearby homeowner. They put some stuff on the muck that came out of the exhaust. (not similar to IL2).
I met a pal for a couple of beers afterwards and he had no sympathy but laughed. (similar to IL2 Squad mates).
And no points (similar to IL2).
Life and IL2 are similar at times Hammer
