(Microsoft) Word has it that a security bug has been found on all Intel processors since around 10 years ago that can only be fixed by a new, redesigned chip.
This security issue basically allows a malicious program to potentially read the memory of another program.
The bad news is that apparently the linux team and the Windows team are working on a software workaround that will slow the processing power of the CPU by what some estimate to be a 30%.

Bom, segundo o Guru3D, em teste preliminar o impacto do WinTel "bug fix" no "vício" (games) é pequeno ~2%, porem mais significante (?) em resolução de 4K.

Hoje recebi uma grande atualização no meu rwin10, não sei se baixou a performance do PC, mas a desgraça é que renomeou todos meus periféricos e agora vou ter que reconfigurar tudo

Supostamente o KB4056892 de 03.1.18 tenta segurar as pontas do lado do Windows, mas é preciso também uma atualização de BIOS - se disponibilizada pelo fabricante da mobo vai modificar o micro-código da CPU. O KB deu xabu para algumas CPU AMD.
Curioso é que a descrição do KB não menciona nada relativo a CPU:
