IL-2 x Windows 7 x WinXP performance

Um gringo fez um " Mythbursters" comparando o IL-2 nos dois OS.
Computador:
Intel i7 965 processor,
Asus P6T Deluxe V2,
6GB DDR3
EVGA 285GT (over-core: 705 - Shader Clock: 1605 - Memory Clock: 1290),
Audigy2 ZS Platinum
Resultados:
Windows XP SP3 - 32 bits (not overclocked ) frames per second: AVG - 103.949, MIN - 29, MAX - 210
Windows 7 RC - 64 bits (not overclocked ) frames per second: AVG - 101.819, MIN - 27, MAX - 216
"DETONADO".

Não disseram que seria no mínimo razoável com uma nova máquina rodando um SO adequado a ela?
Eu já vinha pensando justamente o contrário pela "engine" do IL-2.

Acontece que o engine do IL-2 é antigo - da decada de 90.
Se não me falha a memória rodava "mais rápido"no Windows98SE do
que no Xp quando este saiu.
Mas isso não é motivo para não usar o Seven num micro novo, afinal
ele não vai rodar só o IL-2.
Testei aqui agora, abrindo o IL-2 4.09m "vanila
No Windows 7/64 bits com 4 GB DDR-2 - abriu em 8 segundos.
No Windows XP/32 bits com 3 GB DDR-2 (o endereçamento do outro 1 GB foi reservado pela VGA, que é de 1 GB) - abriu em 12 segundos.
Mesmo que o FPS seja ~2% menor, carregando mais rápido já é vantagem.

E outra, diferença menor que 3% é empate técnico.

Você vai ver que pra jogos mais novos com um hardware atual o XP toma uma surra, com DX10 não da pra comparar por que ele não tem.

I have triple boot setup with this system now XP Pro x86, Win7 x86 and Ubuntu 9.10 x86. IL-2 runs under all OS from my xp partition. Best performance is under Ubuntu.
