"Compared to the older P-7, the orginal P-11 was intended to improve the forward view of the pilot. An engine with a narrower diameter contributed to that. On the P-11c, which followed the P.11a on the assembly lines, the position of the pilot is redesigned, moving him backward on raised seat.
This model equiped 12 squadrons of the Polish airforce in September of 1939, when the Germans invaded the country. The pilots of P-11c claimed the destruction of 126 planes for the loss of 114 of them during the month of combats, no mean feat considering the gap of generation between this ageing model and the ultra-modern fighters of the Luftwaffe."
